Wild game event benefits scholarships for Clarion athletes

March 21, 2018

Clarion University’s 2018 George Garbarino Wild Game Event will begin at 6 p.m. April 7 at Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #101, 401 Grand Ave., Clarion. The event supports athletics scholarships at Clarion.

Several years ago, the Wild Game Committee established a scholarship endowment in honor of George Garbarino, a friend and supporter of the university. Garbarino passed away in 2007, but the scholarship continues to help Clarion athletes; currently 18 athletes and one athletic trainer benefit from it.

The menu will include pheasant, rabbit, quail, black bear, wild turkey, moose, caribou, mule deer, white tail deer, elk, numerous species of fish and much more. The event will have games, guns, one-of-a-kind original wildlife artwork and numerous other prizes including camping, outdoor and sports equipment.

Tickets, available on a first-come, first-served basis, are $100 and include a complimentary happy hour, games and wild hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and an auction, raffles and program at 8:30 p.m. The ticket price includes door prize eligibility and raffle tickets, but those attending may also purchase an unlimited number of early bird raffle ticket packages, which double the number of tickets received, for $50 each.

Order by sending your name, address, phone number and email address, along with a check for the event plus any early bird ticket packages desired, to: Jim Thornton, Clarion University Athletics, Clarion, PA 16214. Checks and money orders should be made payable to Clarion Student Association. Tickets will be picked up at the door the evening of the dinner. Orders must be postmarked by March 29.
