Panel, live stream of journalist focus on opioid epidemic

Clarion Drug Free Coalition will host a panel discussion and a live stream of veteran reporter and author Sam Quinones speaking about America’s opioid epidemic at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in Hart Chapel, Clarion University. The event is free and open to the public.

The 6 p.m. panel discussion will include prevention specialists, rehab science faculty, university staff and others. The live stream of Quinones, who will be speaking in Butler, begins at 7 p.m., and a Q&A begins at 8 p.m. Opioid addiction has devastated hundreds of rural towns and suburbs across America.

Quinones, a Los Angeles-based freelance journalist and author of three books of narrative nonfiction, released his latest book, "Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic," in 2015.
