Clarion University already has a generous system of giving in place and throughout the week of March 20-24, you can become part of it by participating in new and ongoing fundraisers.
"The goal of the Week of Giving is to start the tradition of giving with people who may never have considered giving or who are new to the giving process," said Budd Lauer, director of the annual fund for the Clarion University Foundation, Inc.
To help everyone get in the spirit of giving, a goal of finding 1,867 donors has been made in honor of the university's founding year.
"When people hear the word philanthropy they become squeamish. Philanthropy is not something to be afraid of, instead, it is meant to create a spirit of giving that helps organizations that are near and dear to their heart. Donating to an important cause should make you feel good; not scared to answer the phone or reach into your wallet and donate $5," Lauer said.
To become a donor, you can do so through a number of different channels.
Employees can become weekly donors through employee payroll deduction. To sign up for this fundraising opportunity which helps fund underfunded scholarships, fill out the form found. Instructions for the process are found online as well.
Everyone can donate online through the Alumni and Friends section of the website.
This week, a couple of other fundraising avenues have been established to make giving even easier. One way is to go to the Crowdfunding page.
Students, faculty, staff and anyone else on campus will have the opportunity to donate through Penny Wars from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eagle Commons this week. A table for Penny Wars will be set up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in Gemmell Student Complex as well.
The phonathon also will be taking place this week.
"During the week of giving, students will be reaching out to alumni and friends of Clarion University. To reach our goal, we need everyone to answer their phone and make a donation. Your support is what drives Clarion University as a leading institution in Pennsylvania," said Rachel Tiche, annual fund officer for the Clarion University Foundation, Inc.
As always, you can donate by calling Budd Lauer, director of annual giving at (814) 393-2827 or by sending a check payable to the Clarion University Foundation, Inc. to Clarion University Foundation, Inc., 840 Wood St., Clarion, PA 16214.
