As part of his June 1 trip to Clarion University, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education chancellor, Frank Brogan, met with president Karen Whitney and vice president of Student Affairs Susanne Fenske.

The three toured the university’s newest facilities, which include a Denny’s Den eatery – the second restaurant of its kind in the United States, catering specifically to university students – as well as the relocation of the Starbucks and the Clarion University Store to Main Street. They also toured the new suites that line both sides of Main Street.

The $61 million Suites on Main project, built with Silver Leadership in Energy and Environment Design standards, features a geothermal heating and cooling system. One hundred and thirty-eight geothermal wells and 50 miles of piping take advantage of steady underground temperatures to heat the buildings in winter and cool them during summer.

Both buildings total more than 230,000 square feet with 373 suites. Space for 728 students is available. Suites on Main North features a 182-seat theater/lecture hall.
