An articulation agreement has been approved between the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and Clarion University.  Both institutions desire to facilitate the guaranteed admissions of students who have earned an Associate of Science degree from CCAC in Technology, Workforce Development and Aviation with full junior standing into the subsequent Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Technology Leadership, a degree completion program, at Clarion University.

“The importance of this articulation agreement is that it provides an answer to the educational needs of availability, accessibility and affordability in earning a bachelor’s degree,” said Clarion University President Whitney.  “The positive effects that this will have with quality career and technology education, will be far reaching.”

Students with an associate’s degree will have earned a minimum of half of the 120 credits required of the applied technology degree, at the community college rate.

“In yet another historic agreement between the Community College of Allegheny County and Clarion University, CCAC Technology, Workforce Development and Aviation program graduates will now have the opportunity to acquire additional educational credentials at Clarion in order to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Technology Leadership—all with the added benefits of convenient online and on-campus degree completion program options,” said CCAC President Dr. Quintin Bullock. “Through our ongoing partnership, CCAC and Clarion have once again demonstrated our commitment to affordable and accessible quality educational programming that will enable graduates of our two great institutions to successfully compete in an ever-changing global workforce.”

Technology Leadership graduates will be positioned to move on to Clarion University’s Master of Business Administration degree program. Coursework for the program can be completed face-to-face or online, allowing working professionals to achieve academic goals while also meeting family and work demands.

Clarion University’s Department of Applied Technology was launched in 2003 in response to a critical need for high-quality technical education in the region and beyond, and utilizes a creative partnership approach designed to prepare students for a career path leading to a wide range of opportunities and leadership positions.  The Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a major in Technology Leadership (BAS-TL) prepares industrial technology practitioners for a career in technology supervision and management. The degree builds on their technical knowledge base obtained through professional and military experience, an associate degree, or technical/trade school education.  The BAS-TL is designed to articulate with Clarion University’s ATMAE-accredited Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Technology (AAS-IT) or Administration Technology (AAS-AT) degrees. It is also designed to articulate with accredited technical and community college programs across the Commonwealth and beyond.

CCAC annually educates nearly 30,000 credit students through more than 150 degree, certificate, diploma and transfer programs and offers thousands of students access to noncredit and workforce development courses. The learning-centered institution’s mission is to provide affordable access to quality education and offer a dynamic, diverse and supportive learning environment that prepares the region’s residents for academic, professional and personal success in our changing global society. CCAC’s quality programs enable students to transfer credits to approximately 500 colleges and universities and support regional workforce needs with accessible instruction available day, evening, weekend and online in Allegheny County and beyond.
