Center for Wellness, Counseling Center Support Student Success

February 25, 2016

The Division of Student Affairs supports your total student experience and the Center for Wellness offers a variety of assistance and recreational opportunities.

Counseling Services, Heath Services, Student Support Assistant, Drug & Alcohol Education, Recreation, and Intramurals make up the Center for Wellness

Counseling Services staff are highly trained and provide an array of confidential and personal interventions to effectively address the needs of those seeking assistance.

All counseling contacts with students are confidential, and counseling information is not a part of student records or transcripts.

No information is released by Counseling Services without the student's written consent, except as required by law.

The Counseling Services staff are available to talk to you on an individual, group, and couples basis.  Other services available include testing for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), career counseling and guidance, and guidance on making major life decisions.

Counseling Services staff are also available to present workshops and programs on a wide variety of topics including managing stress, increasing self-esteem, improving listening skills, and many more.

Programs are offered free of charge for students, faculty, and campus groups. Training sessions, outreach presentations, assessments, referrals, and consultations are available upon request.

Although the Student Support Assistant (SSA) is housed in the Center for Wellness, the primary role of the SSA is to provide any support, referrals, and guidance to students that will ensure the overall success of students at Clarion University.

CUtalk  and CUtalk Online are available for all students who have questions associated with anything college related.  No appointment is necessary, if you have any questions, please drop in at 263 Gemmell on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. and 101 Still Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Access CUtalk  Online at cutalk@clarion.edu.  If you have any concerns about a student or would like more information about the supports that the SSA can provide, please call 393-2031

Located in 256 Becht and in 234 Montgomery at Venango College, Counseling Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the main campus, and Monday (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Wednesday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Thursday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at Venango.

The receptionist will ask for a brief reason for the referral and schedule the earliest possible appointment with the student.  If you have any other concerns about a student or an issue on campus, please consider a referral to BART.

In the event of an emergency, support can be accessed by contacting the campus police department if you are on campus.  Clarion County offers a 24/7 crisis intervention service – call 814-226-7223.

Clarion County also offers a walk-in crisis center located at 214 South 7th Ave. which is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
