best colleges online accounting sealClarion University’s online accounting degree has been ranked seventh in the nation by bestcolleges.com.

According to the organization’s website, bestcolleges.com compiles its rankings using the latest information from the IPEDS and College Navigator databases, both of which are reputable sources maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics. The rankings include only schools with at least two of the following four data points published:

  • Acceptance rate – The percentage of first-time, undergraduate students admitted into the college out of all who applied. A lower acceptance rate indicates that it is likely to offer more challenging curricula and instruction.
  • Retention rate – The percentage of full-time, first-time undergraduate students who completed their first year and returned the following year to continue their studies at the school. A higher retention rate indicates that students are satisfied with their educational experience at the school because they elected to return.
  • Graduation rate – The percentage of full-time, first-time students who graduated within six years of beginning their education. A higher graduation rate indicates that students receive enough instruction and assistance to help them complete their entire degree programs within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Enrollment rate – The percentage of students admitted into a school who actually enrolled. A higher enrollment rate indicates that the school is within the top choices for the admitted students, which shows that the school is more desirable overall.

"We're extremely proud of our faculty and the development of the online accounting program in holding this extraordinarily high ranking," said Phil Frese, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration and Information Sciences. "Our expectations are that this will be supportive of our new online master's in accounting program, which was just approved by the Board of Governors and will begin in January."
