Free app lists film schedule for Clarion University movie theater, other events

November 4, 2015

When Clarion University’s new Suites on Main North opened in August, one of the features included a movie theater, complete with a concessions counter, open to the community.

The 188-seat theater shows second-run films after their release but before DVD availability, as well as classics, documentaries and films addressing social issues. Because of licensing regulations, the films cannot be advertised, but they are listed in university events listings.

Theater admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children 12 and younger and free for Clarion University students with ID.

corq appAlso debuting this fall is the Corq app, which is available for free download and lists not only films being shown at the university theater, but other campus events, too. The app is available through Google Play for Android devices and through Apple's App Store.

"I think this app has great potential to change the way student groups advertise their events and how students find out what's going on on our campus," said Emily Romig, a junior strategic communication major and president of University Activities Board.

Although students using Corq can log in for additional university information, the app has open access to the list of events that are open to the community.

Campus events are also listed on the events calendar at www.clarion.edu.
