Clarion University salutes its faculty, staff and student veterans today and every day.

In recognition of Veteran's Day, everyone is invited to attend a Veteran's Day ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon today in Level A in Carlson Library.

Clarion University and Chartwell's Food Services will then treat its military veterans and active duty military personnel, who also are Clarion University employees or students, to a Veteran's Day luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Eagle Commons dining hall. Those who plan to attend the luncheon should RSVP to Ann Hargenrader or call her at 814-393-2235 to confirm their attendance.

Clarion University has a good reputation in its dealings with veterans and military personnel and has been designated a 2016 Military Friendly® School for the seventh consecutive year.

"Clarion is very proud of this ranking because we stand by the services we offer to our veterans," said Lynne Fleisher, director of Clarion's online programs.

Fleisher said services for veteran's are growing at Clarion and include a campus recognized Student Veteran's Association. Also, the ROTC and veteran's lounges are open and located at 415 and 416 Becht Hall respectively. The university also offers counseling services to its veterans from 2 to 4 p.m. on every third Tuesday by appointment through the counseling center. For more information, contact Fleisher at 393-2778.

The Military Friendly® Schools designation, awarded by Victory Media, goes to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

In addition to its Military Friendly designation, Clarion University offers a class scheduling preference to all of its veterans.
