Kaulen's sculpture "The Workers," made of reclaimed steel, commemorates Pittsburgh's industrial heritage. Completed in September 2012, the two 20-foot-tall pieces have a permanent home at South Side Riverfront Park, Pittsburgh.

Tim Kaulen, a sculptor known for the many public pieces he has constructed for the city of Pittsburgh, will give a presentation at 5 p.m. April 7 in Marwick-Boyd Little Theatre, Clarion University. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Named Pittsburgh Artist of the Year in 2009, Kaulen has met with local elementary, high school and college students over the past few weeks to discuss community and public art projects. His March 17 workshop for university students inspired them to take part in group collaboration and consider possible project ideas for Clarion's campus. Their thoughts and proposals will also be discussed April 7.

Kaulen's lecture is part of this year's Mary L. Seifert Cultural Series "Beauty Matters." The Mary L. Seifert Cultural Series Endowment of the Clarion University Foundation, Inc., was established to provide the Clarion University community with cultural experiences that inspire learning through thoughtful discussions.
