The 'Dear Harvey' cast: Kiah Harrington-Wymer, Maggie Mae McWade, Andrew Stalder, Lorenzo Ballesteros, Casey Martz, Sam Atwell and Delilah Heverley.

Clarion University Theatre will present “Dear Harvey” by Patricia Loughrey with original music by Thomas Hodges at 8 p.m. April 22-25 and at 2 p.m. April 26 in Marwick-Boyd Little Theatre.

Harvey Milk was the first openly gay politician to be elected to public office. This documentary-style play retells the story of his life and how his actions affected the LGBT community and inspired others into a life of public service. People who were closest to Milk and most affected by his struggle tell the story.

"Most portrayed in the play are still living and in the prime of their careers. It is great for the students to be able to watch their character on YouTube to see the mannerism of the character, as well as to be able to contact who they are playing," said Robert Levy, director of the play.

The cast includes: Sam Atwell, St. Marys; Lorenzo Ballesteros, Cresco; Kiah Harrington-Wymer, Brookville; Delilah Heverly, Lock Haven; Casey Martz, Brookville; Maggie Mae McWade, Clarion; and Andrew Stalder, Warren. The understudies are Logan Honsaker, Twinsburg, Ohio, and Anna Matia, Pittsburgh.

The production is designed by students John Dobson, Mercer; Thomas Feather, Windber; Hank Bullington, Clarion; Emily Smallwood, Dallas, Pa.; and faculty member Myra Bullington.

"Dear Harvey" contains adult language and may not be suitable for younger viewers.
