Clarion University will host 9th Annual Northwestern Pa. GIS Conference

Clarion University will host the 9th Annual Northwestern Pa. GIS Conference of Oct. 16-17 in the Gemmell Student Complex. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The topic for this year’s conference is emergency preparedness. The conference is free to students and faculty of the university. The cost is $35 for both days and $25 for one day, for participants not affiliated with the university.

There will be a wide range of presenters and demonstrators that fit into the theme of emergency preparedness.  Local businesses are encouraged to participate in the presentation and show what types of GIS is offered in the area.

“Clarion University has hosted the GIS conference in the past and it is a great way to heighten awareness of GIS while building attention for the university and the community,” said Dr. Ayad, a professor in the Biology and Geoscience Department, who organized the conference.

Businesses or individuals looking to present in this year’s conference can register at www.clarion.edu/gisconference/ .  The deadline to register is Sept. 24. The conference is supported by the GIS club at Clarion University.
