For the second consecutive year, Horner worked with Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, Clarion, to host a Dining to Donate day in April. Through Dining to Donate, Applebee’s donates 15 percent of guests’ check totals to a designated cause. The April event raised $496.37; AFSCME 2326 gave an additional $500; and an individual gave a cash donation of $10. Last year’s total was $1,003.

Horner is an advocate for awareness and early detection of esophageal cancer, a disease which her husband survived. She has been working for four years with State Rep. Donna Oberlander to have a resolution passed to officially designate April as Esophageal Cancer Awareness and Prevention Month in Pennsylvania.
