Trejos presents at International Conference on Aging and Society

February 13, 2014

Dr. Sandra Trejos

Dr. Sandra Trejos, Clarion University professor of economics, presented at the Third International Conference on Aging and Society at the University Center, Chicago.

Trejos presented her work to an interdisciplinary international audience last November. Her study on “Happiness, Health and Aging in Western Europe” was part of the first set of parallel sessions on the first day of the conference. Using a panel estimation, she presented new quantitative evidence on the association of aging to happiness, as measured by overall life satisfaction and published by the United Nations World Poll Survey, while controlling for life expectancy and other important considerations such as child dependency and elderly dependency. She also considered the non-linear relationship between happiness and aging for the sample of Western European countries.
