Students represent Clarion at Sigma Tau Delta International Convention

Nine students and faculty advisor Dr. Kevin Stemmler attended the Sigma Tau Delta International Convention Feb. 26 to March 1 in Savannah, Ga. Sigma Tau Delta is the international English honor society.

“Convention is an English major's dream vacation,” said Brianna Snow, an English major from Oil City. “Not only did we get to hear from famous authors, we were also able to present and participate in discussions about books and writing. A lot of the Clarion students that attended also presented, which was great preparation for our fields of study.”

In addition to Snow, Clarion students who attended are: Cayleigh Boniger, Lake City; Derek Dietz, Butler; Ann Deibert, York; Rebecca Greenman, Fairview; Christian Crankfield, Harrisburg; Elizabeth Murr, Girard; Morgan Ramsey, McAlisterville; and Mark Skalski, Pittsburgh.

The students participated in panel discussions and writer’s workshops with four major writers. Out of the 800 chapters represented, the Clarion chapter was one of eight that presented a table display. rianna Snow received a scholarship at the convention that will assist her with graduate school tuition at Chatham University next fall.

“The whole experience was inspiring and encouraging,” Snow said.
