Clarion history majors present research at Phi Alpha Theta conference

Three Clarion University history majors presented their research at the Western Pennsylvania Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference and Undergraduate Research Forum March 29 at Slippery Rock University.

John Spencer of Hatboro presented a paper about “John Adams and the Model Treaty of 1776,” for which he received the “Best Paper in Panel” prize. Student presenters also included Amanda Beil of Sheffield, who presented a paper about “Leon Trotsky in Cardenista, Mexico,” and Elizabeth Davidson of Warren, who presented a paper on “Challenging Gender Stereotypes: Soviety Women in World War II.”

Clarion professors Dr. Kathleen McIntyre, Dr. Todd Pfannestiel and Dr. Martha Robinson accompanied the students and moderated various panels.

The Clarion University Undergraduate Research Committee funded travel and conference costs through the grant program.
