Club Sports & Activities
Eagle Equestrian Team/Club
The equestrian program is a club sport and there are riders from both the Venango and Clarion campuses that compete. The program has been a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) since 2010. Riders show in Zone 2 Region 5 in English and Western competitions. There are two certified instructors/coaches in English and in Western. The IHSA provides collegiate riders of all skills the opportunity to compete individually and as teams in equestrian shows.
If a student is not interested in competing as part of a club sport, the Clarion University — Venango club also offers students the opportunity to learn about horses, take riding lessons and go on trail rides.
The rifle team/club was created in the fall of 2011. This popular team/club allows students to develop competence in the sport of competitive rifle marksmanship, to develop skills in the safe and proper handling of rifles, and to represent Clarion University - Venango in intercollegiate rifle competitions.
The Clarion University - Venango Bowling Program is a club sport that competes nationally against all NCAA DI, DII, DIII schools, and NAIA teams. The team/club is a member of the United States Bowling Congress Collegiate. Students have traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, New York City, Schenectady, New York and competed in the USBC Singles Qualifying in Allentown, Pennsylvania. To date, four of our members have been honored as Academic All American by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.
Bowling Team Tournament
The bowling club also provides Venango students the option to bowl every Tuesday night at Seneca Lanes Bowling Alley. Students can also join several bowling leagues during the semester.
As a club member you will travel to the Pentagon Paintball in Erie several times during the year. The paintball team provides Venango students the opportunity to compete as a member of a team against other schools, colleges, and leagues.
There is interest in starting an archery team/club on campus. If you would like to join or find out more information about the club please contact Daly Fuller.
The fitness club provides Venango students with a great support group to run, walk, do fitness classes with, etc. If you are interested in getting healthier, building muscle mass, or just want someone to work out with, this is the club for you.
The Venango Veterans Club began in 2009 with the intention of welcoming the influx of Post 911-discharged Veterans seeking a college education. The Venango Veterans Club is very community service oriented. Check out the Veterans Club Facebook page to see all the work these students have accomplished.
