Appointment
Policy
Although there is no charge to be seen by a
provider, those students not showing up for their appointment and not canceling
at least 1 hour prior to the appointment will be charged a $10.00 "no show"
charge. This is to encourage students to cancel their appointment to make
appointments available to other students needing to be seen.
The Keeling Health
Center follows an established procedure for making and prioritizing appointments.
A copy of this procedure is available on request. A summary of the procedure
follows:
-
In the absence of an available
appointment, students will be encouraged to come to the health center
for triage by a nurse. If that is not convenient. OR . . .
-
The schedule is currently
full, the student will be offered the first available appointment. If the
first available appointment is not acceptable, subsequent appointment times
will be offered until an acceptable appointment time is available. If an
appointment is not available within an acceptable period of time, OR, if
the student does not want to wait for an appointment, . . .
-
A nurse will talk with
the student on the phone, conduct a verbal assessment, and determine an
appropriate course of action. Actions may include offering the first available
appointment, arranging for the student to come in as soon as possible/necessary,
referral to the emergency room or other community resource, and/or offering
of self care instructions. The decision of the nurse conducting the verbal
assessment is based on professional judgment, and guidelines developed
by our physician's.
