New members named to Alumni Association Board of Directors
Clarion University of Pennsylvania has named four new members to its Alumni Association Board of Directors - Gus Johnson of Pittsburgh, Patrick Maley of Ben Avon, John Mumford of Titusville, and Milissa Bauer of Clarion.
They will join current board members Daniel Bard of Charles Town, WV; Dr. Marlin Hartman of Indiana, Larry Jamison of Clarion, Anthony Linnan of Clarion, Joseph Martinelli of Verona, NJ, Malachy McMahon of Oil City, Bill Molnar of Murrysville, Ronald Paranick of Cranberry, Kellie (Sarver) Rea of Slippery Rock, Scott Shewell of Camp Hill, Kathleen Smith of Clarion, Lynne (Singer) Tharan of New Bethlehem, and James Wagner of Titusville.
Hartman is beginning a second three-year term on the board. Completing terms and leaving the board are Dr. Ernest Aharrah of Clarion and Kay Ensle of Oil City. Michael Carey of Elkins, WV, resigned from the board during the past year.
Johnson of 2068 Calistoga Place, Pittsburgh, received his B.S. in secondary education from Clarion in 1953. He retired from the Pittsburgh Public Schools as a middle school principal in August 1993.
Maley of 7502 Church Ave., Ben Avon, received his B.S./B.A. in marketing from Clarion in 1988. He is currently an assistant vice-president and regional manager of PNC Bank in Monroeville.
Mumford of 223 N. Brown St., Titusville, received both a B.S. in education in 1973, and M. Ed. in education in 1976 from Clarion. He is currently director of the University of Pittsburgh's George Barco Center for Continuing Education in Titusville.
Bauer of P.O. Box 520, 422 Tippin Dr., Clarion, received her B.S. in accounting from Clarion in 1984. She is currently the vice president of administration for The Kriebel Organization in Clarion.
New officers, who will begin their duties on July 1, are: Marlin Hartman, president; Ron Paranick, president-elect; Lynne Tharan, secretary; and Larry Jamison, treasurer.
The Alumni Association Board of Directors strengthens Clarion University through: involving alumni with Clarion University, maintaining good public relations and a positive public image, fund raising and scholarship support, supporting enrollment activities, and obtaining legislative and career support.
The Association's program activities include State System of Higher Education receptions, legislative activities, recruitment functions, and student involvement through Student Alumni Ambassadors. Members commit to: attending regular board meetings, Alumni Day, Homecoming, and other special events; involving other alumni in Alumni Board responsibilities; and work on one or more of the Association's committees which include awards, recognition and nomination; student relations, scholarship and chapter-program; legislative affairs and development; special events; and publications.
