Alumni award nominations sought
The distinguished awards were established by the Clarion University Alumni Association in 1966 to recognize alumni and university friends who have excelled in at least one area: significant accomplishments in his or her profession; outstanding service to the university and/or the Alumni Association; or contributions to humanity. Candidates for awards may be nominated by contacting the Alumni Relations office at 814-226-2637 or e-mail alumni@mail.clarion.edu.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI - First instituted in 1966, this award recognizes
individuals who have played a significant role in the life of the university. By their generous and caring spirit, they have set an example for all alumni to follow. They may be noted for accomplishments in their own field, extraordinary service to Clarion, community, state, and/or nation.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE -Established in 1967, this award recognizes individuals who may or may not qualify as alumni and faculty. They will have made contributions to the university that have a significant influence on the university community. They may have a record of extraordinary volunteer service and be actively involved with Clarion University.
DISTINGUISHED FACULTY - First given in 1966, this award recognizes faculty members for their excellence in teaching. Recipients have a dedication and commitment to their profession, demonstrate care, and are an inspiration to their students. They may be well known in and out of the classroom, and are supportive of Clarion University.
SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - Established in 1995, this award is presented to a graduate or former student of Clarion University who has made outstanding contributions to country, humanity, or profession. Nominees should have attained eminence in their field or achieved renown for distinctive service of a personal and/or humanitarian nature, or displayed citizenship of noteworthy character.
SPECIAL VOLUNTEER AWARD - Established in 1995, this award is presented to an individual who has given time and talent to the university. Eligibility is measured by volunteer time devoted to and benefits derived by Clarion University.
