Jack Fuellhart dies

Jack Fuellhart ('68), the recipient of the 1994 Distinguished Alumni Award, died on June 21. He was a member of the Clarion University Foundation Board and was serving as the chair of the Investing in Futures Campaign.
Fuellhart had a varied life and career style as a teacher, businessman, entrepreneur, and farmer. He was born on Oct. 11, 1942, in Warren, the son of the late Robert H. and Dorothea White Fuellhart. He earned degrees in elementary education and business from Clarion State College where he wrestled for coach Frank Lignelli and met his wife, Janice (Black), while both were involved in a summer production of "Brigadoon."
He taught in the Warren School District until 1969, when he purchased the Tionesta Cable Company, now the Allegheny Valley Cable Company.
He organized a cable construction company to build cable, for his own and other cable companies. He owned and operated systems in Oklahoma and New York, founded Cable Systems USA, USA Mobile Communications Inc., and Cellular USA Inc. As the owner of Crown Farms, Crown, he spent three years experimenting with seed blending to achieve the "champion" crops.
In addition, Fuellhart introduced a new breed of cattle to the area, Scottish Highlander, and raised throughbred horses. He also started Crown Farms Estate Beef, raising premium beef which is sold across the country.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jack Jr. of Crown, one brother, John of Kentucky, and two sisters, Sally Thornton and Midge Hinkle, both of Florida.
