Hicks elected to chair SLA engineering division

Betty Lou Hicks ('67 and '69), supervisor of information resources for Hanson Engineers, was recently elected chair of the Engineering Division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) for 1997-1998. The SLA network includes nearly 15,000 librarians and information professionals. It's the second largest library and information-related association in North America and the third largest in the world.

At Hanson, Hicks develops and maintains a state-of-art technical library, which includes periodicals, journals, conference proceedings, reports, maps, trade literature, specifications and related materials. She also administers acquisitions, cataloguing and circulation, and answer research questions for the various department specialists.

Hicks, of Decatur, ILL, holds a bachelor's of science and a master's of science, both in library science from Clarion State College.
