.. Environmental Geoscience
Water
pollution, disappearing beaches, a hole in the ozone layer
there is no doubt that we live in a time of depleting
natural resources. However, you can save the future of
the planet. That's right
YOU! You don't even have
to wear a red cape and a big "S" on your chest.
Today's
geoscientists come from a variety of training backgrounds.
At Clarion, we've combined all of those backgrounds under
one degree
the Environmental Geoscience degree.
The Environmental Geoscience degree program can offer
today's student the knowledge to solve tomorrow's environmental
problems.
Follow
the Tracks
The Environmental Geoscientist is a highly knowledgeable
and marketable scientist. The program, which focuses on
a wide array of Earth processes, is flexible enough to
allow students to choose courses in they are interested
courses which will help them find employment and fulfill
their personal desires.
Students
in the program follow one of three specialized "tracks"
of study:
- surficial
geology - (example
study land and soil erosion)
- hydro-geology
- (example
examine water resource needs)
- atmospheric
science - (example
forecast weather patterns)
- pick
your own path
you can combine paths and develop
your own "track" under the guidance of a personal,
academic advisor
And
that's not all. Students have the option of minoring in
Geographic Information Systems (GIS). GIS is the fastest
growing computer industry on the planet. Combining GIS
with the traditional geoscience tracks listed above creates
a unique combination not offered at many universities.
In short, Clarion's Environmental Geosciences degree is
the only one in Pennsylvania's State University System.
This program creates excellent graduates with unlimited
earning potential. So, not only will you become an undercover
superhero, you'll make a decent living saving the world.
