Introduction

The Department of Library Science continues its efforts to address the growing shortage of librarians throughout the commonwealth and the nation by offering its accredited Master of Science in Library Science (M.S.L.S.) program via the World Wide Web. This program is fully accredited by the American Library Association, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This is a cohort program, meaning that students admitted to a particular cohort must take all courses in the specified sequence. Each cohort will have a specific focus, and all courses will be offered via the World Wide Web.  A new  Rural and Small Libraries cohort will begin in the Spring of 2008.  An additional cohort will be determined in the near future and included on this site.  Updated 14 November, 2006.
