Internship Opportunities
The following positions
are organized in reverse chronological order according to the deadline date. Position
announcements received by the department which do not specify an application deadline date
will remain available on this site for a period of four months from the day the department posts
the announcement. These announcements will have the deadline date enclosed in parenthesis.
Position U Penn Library Intership
Deadline (November 9, 2008)
Salary $15/hr
Qualifications Current graduate student in library/information science
program; able to work with accuracy & attention to
detail; flexible & able to work in a group & individually;
comfortable with database searching & Microsoft Word.
Experience with science/engineering databases &
instruction, familiarity with basic HTML, Blackboard,
Microsoft Excel & Access preferred.
Duties:
Help support the Engineering Library's information literacy
program by teaching classes in workshop & seminar

Position Lippincott Library Internship

Salary $15/hr
Qualifications Must be a current student in an MLS/ALA graduate
program; able to learn quickly, take intiative, and handle
busy situations; positive attitude & strong public services
orientation.
Duties: staff reference desk; assist in library orientation;
learn Reserves, Periodicals, & Microtext department
fuctions; attend staff meetings

Position University of PA Veterinary Library
Deadline (November 1, 2008)
Salary $15/hr, paid vacation & sick time
Qualifications Current student in ALA Library/Information Science
graduate program; strong academic background; able to
learn quickly, take initiative, handle busy situations; public
service orientation.
Position is for 1 year starting summer 2008.
Duties: work with interlibrary loan/document delivery
systems; provide reference for students, faculty, and
staff; provide Live Chat & Instant Messaging reference;

assesment tools; reference services.

Answer directional & general reference questions;
provide overview of Commons services, technology, and
programs to patrons; provide learning & research
