Purpose of Award

The Elizabeth A. Rupert Graduate Scholarship in Library Science is funded through contributions to the Rupert Fund administered by the Clarion University Foundation. The purpose of the scholarship is to give personal encouragement and financial support to a promising graduate student who seeks a career in librarianship by completing the Master of Science in Library Science degree at Clarion University. Two $575 awards will be made for 2002-2003.

Dr. Rupert, an alumna of Clarion (B.S. 1959), served as professor of Library Science from 1961-1985. She was appointed dean of the College of Library Science in 1971 and served until her retirement. Dr. Rupert's service to Clarion also included a three-month period as interim president in 1977. She had experience as a school and academic librarian prior to becoming a library educator.
