101 Stevens Hall The College of Education and Human Services offers programs to prepare professional educators and other human services personnel. Eight specialized curricula are offered in professional education: early childhood education, elementary education, environmental education, library science, music education, secondary education, special education, and communication sciences and disorders. Each teacher education curriculum is designed to meet the graduation requirements of the university, the certification requirements of the state, and the accreditation standards of various professional groups such as the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. Please Note: Successful completion of block, student teaching, or an internship requires communication skills sufficient for entry level in to the profession. If communication skills are not sufficient, as determined by the Speech, Language, and Hearing Screening, remediation through the Speech and Hearing Clinic may be required.
The overall mission of the College of Education and Human Services is to develop educators and human service professionals who have received specialized training, mastered a recognized body of knowledge, internalized standards of excellence, and who are ready to assume responsibility for the exercise of professional judgment and continued professional growth. |
