From Dr. Colleen McAleer The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers an undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology/Speech and Hearing Science, and a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. The undergraduate degree program is pre-professional in nature and prepares students to attend graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology. The Master’s degree program prepares students to enter the profession of Speech-Language Pathology. Upon completion of the Master’s degree, students are eligible for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Pennsylvania license to practice Speech Language Pathology and the PA Teaching Certificate in Speech-Language Impaired. The graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The program is located in Keeling Health Center, which also houses the Clarion University Speech and Hearing Clinic. The Clinic provides services to patients with communication disorders, and an opportunity for program students to obtain clinical experience. Off-campus clinical externship sites for students’ clinical training are available in a variety of settings. The department's strategic plan is available for review by students, alumni and others who may have an interest. The plan is posted on Blackboard for review by the program's students. A printed copy of the strategic plan is also available for review in the departmental office in 118 Keeling. We welcome all inquiries concerning our programs. If you would like to arrange a campus visit, meet with the faculty, and tour our facilities, please call the department or send me an e-mail at cmcaleer@clarion.edu. |
