Accounting Club

The Accounting Club offers many exciting and interesting activities to its members. You'll find the activities to be both fun and informative. Also, you will be given opportunities to meet representatives from various accounting firms and other businesses. Their speeches will give you insight into your future career in accounting. Here is a list of some of the Accounting Club's activities:

Club Meetings Meetings provide a great opportunity to get to know other accounting majors. Guest speakers provide important information about the accounting field.

IMA The Institute of Management Accountants holds dinners monthly which provide the chance to meet members of the business community.

Banquet The annual club banquet takes place near the end of the fall semester. At this time the new officers are inducted. It provides students with a chance to interact with accounting professionals and professors in the Department of Accountancy in a more casual atmosphere. A speaker is invited to discuss recent accounting topics.

Field Trip A field trip is taken in the spring semester to a selected accounting firm. It gives students a chance to experience and ask questions about working in the business world. A job fair made up of public, corporate, and not-for-profit firms is held during the afternoon of the field trip.

VITA The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is held in the spring in which accounting students are given hands on experience in taxes by filling out tax returns, for local residents of Clarion.

The Accounting Club officers are always open to any suggestions that its members may have. We would like to work with all the members to make the Accounting Club a rewarding experience for everyone. Also, there will be future events so please look for the signs around Still Hall so that you will be informed about the upcoming activities.

Please feel free to contact any of the officers with any questions, comments, or suggestions. The 2004 officers are:
