Players are grouped according to ability. Emphasis
is placed on basic strokes plus singles and doubles strategy.
Participants develop mental toughness, improve their
techniques, and
polish existing tennis skills.

Camp Director
Lori (Berk) Sabatose
Lori
Sabatose has more than 18 years of experience as a player, coach, and
instructor of tennis. As an undergraduate at Clarion. Sabatose won the
state title in singles, doubles, and team events and attended several
NCAA regional tournaments. She participated in national Division II
competition in St. Louis, Mo., and led the Golden Eagles to three PSAC
team titles. With a career record of 51-7 in singles and 53-11 in
doubles, Sabatose’s highest doubles ranking in Division II was fourth in
the East.
Coach Sabatose is a certified teaching professional
by the PTR, Professional Tennis Registry. She continues to be a
competitive player by participating in the USTA tournaments and received
College Coach of the Year for Middle States Section in 2004. She won
USTA/ITA Sectional Campus Recreation Awards in 2005 and 2006. Since being
named head coach in 1998, Sabatose has coached several all-conference
and regionally ranked players. She won the 2005 USTA/ITA Community
Service Award.
Sabatose coached internationally in 2007 and 2008
in Italy and Argentina.
Before returning to Clarion as head coach, Sabatose
coached several Pennsylvania high school teams and was a teaching
professional at Amherst Hills Tennis Club in Buffalo, N.Y., and at
Treasure Lake Country Club in DuBois, Pa. She received a Master of Arts
degree in sports administration and taught under-graduate tennis at Kent
State and Penn State universities.
With contagious
enthusiasm, Coach Sabatose instills a positive work ethic while
providing constructive feedback to camp participants. Players are
encouraged to improve their skills while having fun learning the game. |
