CFE: The New Face of the Accounting Profession

After the accounting scandals from 2001 to 2003, fraud became a very important issue in the world of accounting.  The Certified Fraud Examiner [CFE] emerged as the new certification.  Presently, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has over 40,000 members.  These professionals have positioned themselves as leaders in accounting and are helping clients prevent, detect, and correct fraud issues around the world.  The examination includes ethics, financial transactions, and investigations of fraud.  Although the CPA [Certified Public Accountant] is the most prestigious certification in accounting, the CFE has quickly become a respectable certification and accounting firms are searching for accountants who have a strong knowledge of fraud and internal controls.

Nathan Geesaman is from Waynesboro, PA.  He has a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics.  He will receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.  His career plans are to attend graduate school at William and Mary and to seek employment with an accounting firm.
