HON 129: MODES OF DISCOURSE
Taken: Spring semester of freshman year

Faculty: Ralph M. Leary, Ph.D. and Barry McCauliff, M.A.

Course Description:
This course is a continuation of HON128: Modes of Discourse. The purpose of this course is to develop and improve your speaking and writing skills; in other words, to improve the ways in which you communicate. We will study and evaluate the use of evidence, reasoning, critical thinking, persuasion, and verbal and nonverbal behavior. By looking at some of the principles involved in interpersonal, small group, and one-way and two-way communication situations, we will attempt to understand how these situations work so that we might learn how to apply those principles in our own interactions. (This course fulfills the general education requirement of ENG111 and satisfies the requirements for the first year values flag..)
