Alumni Awards Nomination Process

The distinguished awards were established by the Clarion University Alumni Association in 1966 to recognize alumni and university friends.  Candidates for awards may be nominated by completing an Alumni Awards Nomination Form on the back of this sheet.  Include supportive information such as a resume, newspaper clippings, new releases, or letters from people attesting to the nominee's qualifications for the award.

Distinguished Alumni:  Established in 1966, this award recognizes individuals who have played a significant role in the life of the university.  By their generous and caring spirit, they have set an example for all alumni to follow.  They may be noted for accomplishments in their own field, extraordinary service to Clarion University, community, state, and/or nation.

Venango Campus Distinguished Alumni: Established in 1990, this award is presented by the Venango Campus Distinguished Alumni Award Committee to former campus students.  They may have been supportive of and brought favorable attention to Venango Campus through their professional accomplishments and extraordinary service to community and/or humanity.

Distinguished Service:
Established in 1967, this award recognizes individuals that have made significant contributions that have influenced the university community.

Distinguished Faculty: First given in 1966, this award recognizes current and former faculty members for their excellence in teaching.  Recipients have a dedication and commitment to their profession, demonstrate care, and are an inspiration to their students.  They may be well known in and out of the classroom, and are supportive of Clarion University.

Distinguished Achievement: Established in 1995, this award is presented to a graduate or former student of Clarion University who has made outstanding contributions to his or her field or profession.

Distinguished Volunteer: Established in 1995, this award is presented to an individual who has given significant time and talent to Clarion University.

Nomination Process:

To nominate a candidate, please contact the Alumni Relations Office.

You can request a nomination form by e-mailing Theresa Martin at tmartin@clarion.edu or by calling 814-393-2572. Return the completed form along with at least one of the following:  resume, newspaper clippings, news releases, and letters from people attesting to the nominee's qualifications for an award are requested.

Deadline for nominations is January 31 in the year you wish to be considered.

A maximum of three letters of support may include the following:

  • information on the nominee's service to Clarion University and/or the Alumni Association;

  • professional involvement or accomplishments; and

  • contributions or service to humanity.
