What is a Material Safety Data Sheet?

A Material Safety Data Sheet is often referred to by its acronym MSDS.  An MSDS is a detailed informational document prepared by the manufacturer or importer of a hazardous substance. The MSDS describes the physical and chemical properties of the product.

Every chemical/product manufacturer or supplier is required to provide a MSDS to the purchaser of any hazardous chemical or product. MSDS’s must be obtained and maintained for every chemical used in the work place.
