Residence Hall Security Aide Job Description

The Residence Hall Security Aide Program is staffed Sunday through Wednesday from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.  The RHSA Program requires that all undergraduate students maintain a minimum academic overall GPA of 2.00(on a 4.00 scale) as well as in "good standing" judicially (not currently on a formal judicial sanction at CUP). The pay rate for the position is $8.00 an hour. Applications for the position can be obtained at the office of Public Safety. The duties of a Resident Hall Security Aide is walk in and around CUP residence hall, report, document and rectify (if possible) any concerns related to resident health, safety and welfare (i.e., propped doors, discharged/missing fire extinguishers, unescorted guest, etc.). Contact a Public Safety Officer for any inappropriate student behavior that may be in violation of the student behavior regulations or other University policies (i.e., noise, alcohol, harassment, public drunk, disorderly conduct, or drug violations, etc). Document incidents via Incidents Reports and submit them to the Program Coordinator. Maintain frequent communication with the other Office of Housing and Residence Life staff in the quad/area to which they are assigned. Become familiar with and use the two-way radio to communicate with the University Police and dispatcher. Provide walking escorts on campus as requested through the University Police Department. RHSA are responsible in attending all mandatory staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Assist the University Police and Resident Life staff when requested to do so in crowd control during fire alarms. Provide informal safety awareness and education to students while completing rounds in and around the residence halls.
