MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE
MINUTES
Members Present: Paul Bylaska; Curtis Foltz; Clare Heidler; Michael McConnell; David Tedjeske; Lou Tripodi; Harry Tripp; Lisa Turner; Ron Wilshire
I. Meeting Purpose
1. Lou Tripodi explained that the initial meeting of the Master Plan Committee would be brief and would cover the timeframe and strategy
for review of the existing Master Plan.
2. Three handouts were distributed: an overview of the Master Plan document prepared by Paul Bylaska; a calendar for completion of the review and a copy of the Executive Summary of the Master.
3. Copies of the handouts will be distributed to other Facilities Planning Committee members that were unable to attend.
II. Timeframe for Review
1. The calendar for completion was reviewed.
It was noted that the second date for the Master
Plan Committee to meet in January should be the 29th rather than the
15th.
The Master Plan Committee will meet at
January 15
January 29
February 12
March 4
An update of MP meeting progress will be
provided at the regular FPC meetings.
III. Strategy for Review
1. The review is a significant undertaking and must be approached in the most efficient manner.
The original plan was divided into three
stages: near, mid, and long term
projects.
As indicated on the calendar, the committee will
review the plan according to these stages and determine what has been
accomplished, what remains to be done, and what revisions to projects and or
timing need to be made.
Committee member were urged to maintain an open
mind and offer new ideas to be incorporated in the plan.
2. The Committee was advised of the following items to keep in mind during their review:
The funding to complete the required renovation
of Becht Hall will not be available until at least
2008. It would take another two years
after funding is allocated to begin any renovations.
Funding from the E & G budget for Master
Plan projects is uncertain. The
suggested $700,000 per year was not allocated this fiscal year.
Political climate: local, state and federal concerns can affect
the plan.
The status of Campbell Hall is uncertain. In the plan this building was to be used as
“swing space” for programs displaced by master plan projects.
The Reinhard Villages
were not part of the Master Plan.
3. Members were advised to call either Paul Bylaska or Clare Heidler if they required any clarification of the material contained in the documents distributed or other aspects of the plan.
Clare Heidler indicated that the square footage
shown in the overview, Page 7 of 14, was incorrect. It was noted that the number used in the
overview correctly reflects the square footage shown in the Master Plan and the
Master Plan document itself is incorrect.
A number of figures provided in the Master Plan may need to be revised
and/or updated.
