Over the spring and summer,
the west end pond at Venango will be returned to its original size and
depth and enhanced with amenities to create recreational opportunities for
students and the community. These will include lighted walkways, a
pavilion, picnic benches, a four-sided Victorian clock, a new bridge, a
fire pit, plantings and others. Field work on this facility is
expected to begin next week. | |

The trees were removed at the
end of last week and over the week end allowing for the parking lot
construction. Clean-up and site restoration continued and all remain scrap
steel is expected to be trucked to a steel mill to be recycled. | |

Roofing
continued on the west and south sides of the building. The block
wall construction started on the West side on the main floor and will
continue to roof line. A large section of the main floor dining area
was placed Thursday. The transformer and switchgear, both
critical items, are expected on site in May. Installation of
the foundation for the transformer and completion of the associated
underground conduit system is planned to be in-place before arrival of the
electrical equipment. Pedestrian/Vehicular
traffic and safety:
While the road
between Carrier and the new dining hall is now open, there continues to be work on the roof
and upper floors near sidewalks and roads. Construction vehicles
will also be entering and leaving the job site to transport
materials. Please use caution near the
jobsite. | |

Installation of the exterior
framing continued and is two-thirds complete. This framing will
provide the backing to which the brick/block will be tied. Two
sections of the interior floor were placed this week. Several
sections remain. The heating/cooling ductwork, plumbing and
electrical installation continued. Major sections of the steam
trough were worked on this past week. The steam trough completion
remains slated for May. Pedestrian/Vehicular
traffic and safety:
Trenching is being used to allow workers to connect electric, sewer, water
and communications lines to the site. Please use extra care around
excavation and normal pedestrian traffic paths near this
