Clarion University Construction Update -- 4/13/08

	Campbell Hall Demolition and South Campus Parking Lot
	The demolition is complete and backfilling operations are underway.  Half of the future parking lot, across from Gemmell Complex, has been backfilled to the bottom of the parking lot sub base.  Removal of trees necessary to install the parking lot will be completed next week.
	Dining Hall
	Roofing is complete on the north side of the Dining Hall and has started on other sides of the building.  Brickwork and insulation is being installed over the concrete blocks on the north and west sides of the building.    Pedestrian/Vehicular traffic and safety:  While the road between Carrier and the new dining hall is now open, there continues to be work on the roof and upper floors near sidewalks and roads.  Construction vehicles will also be entering and leaving the job site to transport materials.  Please use caution near the jobsite.
	Science-Technology Building
	General construction continued throughout the project.  Placing the concrete floor sections continued.  Plumbing, ductwork, and the electrical system installation continued on the second and third floors.  Construction of the concrete steam trough continued with the completion slated for May.  Pedestrian/Vehicular traffic and safety:  Trenching is being dug in the area of the Science-Technology construction site in the future to allow workers to connect electric, sewer, water and communications lines to the site.  Please use extra care around excavation and normal pedestrian traffic paths near this site.
	On-Campus Residences
	Framing continued on both buildings this week.  We see work on the top stories now and the beginnings of a roofline.  Installation of the sanitary sewer lines for Building #4 (near Ralston) is expected to resume next week and progress is being made on all utilities for the buildings.  Pedestrian/Vehicular traffic and safety:  Trenching is being dug in the area of both sites and some roads may be temporarily blocked to access the job or utilities.  Please use extra care around excavation and normal pedestrian traffic paths near this site.
Other Pedestrian/Vehicular traffic and safety issues:  Orientation will be using Lot H and Lot 6 for parking on Fridays throughout the spring and summer.  Employees currently parking in Lot H should park in Lot 5 on Fridays.  Overall parking in Lots 5 and 6 will be limited on Fridays.
