Clarion University Construction Update -- 3/23/08

Campbell Hall Demolition and South Campus Parking Lot

Debris continues to be removed and the site prepared for the parking lot.  Approval of the parking lot project is scheduled for the March Clarion University Council of Trustees meeting on and the April Pennsylvania State System Board of Governors meeting.

Dining Hall

The blocks have been laid on the north side of the exterior, with the road between Carrier and the new dining hall still restricted to one lane.  Additionally, at some point the walkway from parking lot 6 and lot H to Carrier may be obstructed for a day or two due to utility line work from the new Dining Hall to the manhole at the northeast corner.   Work in the near future will focus on adding more block to the structure and other utility tasks before putting a brick façade on the block.  This project is on schedule.

Science-Technology Building

Workers continue adding steel framing within the steel girders to accommodate the exterior wall.  The heating and ventilation ductwork has now been installed on each floor.  This construction is behind schedule, with the building now projected to open late May 2009.

On-Campus Residences

Workers on this project have continued framing and will soon be installing windows in the completed wood frame.  The Ralston flats construction, building # 2 is on schedule while the Wood Street construction, building # 1 is close enough to scheduled completion date to make up lost time as the weather improves.
