MISSION
During their collegiate experience at Clarion University of
Pennsylvania, students may experience some form of academic difficulty
with specific academic subjects and/or their basic learning skills.
Recognizing this fact, the administration at Clarion has committed
institutional resources to the development of the Center for Academic
Enrichment.
The center provides comprehensive assistance in reading and study
skills as well as in the content areas of specific subjects. It has two
components, the Learning Skills Lab and the Tutorial Center.
The prime objective of the Learning Skills Lab is to provide students
with instruction in basic learning skills to become independent
learners. The Tutorial Center provides supplemental aid to classroom
instruction in the content areas.
CONTENT TUTORING
Content tutoring is for students who are having trouble understanding
basic concepts, ideas, or mechanical processes. Assistance is offered in
most lower division subjects and in selected upper division subjects.
Most sessions consist of one-to-one instruction or small group
instruction. Tutors are undergraduates who have been referred by their
respective departments. These tutors participate in extensive training
sessions to develop their tutoring skills.
As a result of the staff changing from one semester to the next the
courses that are offered will vary from semester to semester. The Center
always provides help in the basic core classes as well as the lower
level classes in various subjects.
Click on a button below to find a list of courses for which tutors
are available for the following subjects. If a course is not listed that
you need help in please come to the Center and fill out a tutor request
form because there may be a tutor that can help you.
