B.S. Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration

Biochemistry is the study of chemical and molecular components that drive biological processes. Biochemists use an integrated approach that combines multiple disciplines of chemistry, biology, physics and math to describe and explain protein structure/function, nucleic acid chemistry, biophysics, enzymology, metabolism and overall cellular and organismal function. Discoveries in biochemistry have revolutionized the fields of medicine and have transformed the study of numerous disease states during the past decades. The Clarion University biochemistry curriculum provides a strong foundation for students preparing for graduate studies in biochemical sciences and professional careers in biochemical and pharmaceutical industries. The program also provides a rigorous base for allied health studies such as medical school, dental school, and pharmacy. This program is offered only at the Clarion campus.
