Freewriting

Freewriting is writing down everything that you think of, without taking the time to censor your thoughts.

•  Don't stop to decide if ideas are good. Just write them down!

•  Don't worry about spelling or grammar.

•  Don't review what you've written until you're finished.

•  Don't cross anything out

Focused Freewriting- involves beginning with a topic. Your original topic could be an assignment, a piece of literature, or a quotation.

Blind Freewriting- involves word processing. If you're using a computer for freewriting, try typing with a blackened screen. Your urge to edit sentences or ideas may be suppressed if your writing isn't visible to you.
