Oil City Rotary Club Establishes Scholarship Endowment
at Clarion University–Venango Campus
OIL CITY, PA—At the annual Oil City Rotary
President’s Dinner on Monday, June 26, Rotary President Dr. David Wagner
presented a check for $25,000 to Clarion University President Joseph P.
Grunenwald to establish an endowed scholarship at Clarion University–Venango
Campus. The Oil City Rotary is a long-time supporter of the Venango Campus,
providing annual scholarships for many years. The new endowment ensures that
scholarship funds will be available in perpetuity for qualified students.
“This scholarship not only benefits
students in the region who might not otherwise have the opportunity for a
college education,” said Dr. Grunenwald, “but it is also important at another
level. It affirms your confidence in the Venango Campus, a confidence that we
are proud of and take very seriously. I can assure you that the university is
firmly committed to the future growth of the Venango Campus. We’re here to
serve Venango County and the region for the long haul.”
The scholarship will benefit Venango
Campus students who maintain appropriate academic standing, have demonstrated
community involvement and financial need, and who have resided in Venango
County for at least one year. First priority will be given to a member or
spouse or child of a member of the Oil City Rotary Club. Additional
contributions to the endowment may made by others at any time.
“My colleagues and I are immensely
grateful to the Oil City Rotary Club,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber,
executive dean of the Venango Campus. “Their generous donation will create
life-changing opportunities for Venango County residents for generations to
come.”
“The Oil City Rotary decided to set up
this scholarship endowment to continue to aid individuals in the Venango
County community who want to further their education,” said Dr. Wagner, “and
to support the Venango Campus, which is a wonderful local resource.”
