Clarion University–Venango Campus Honors Student Achievement

OIL CITY, PA—Over 200 students and their families attended Clarion University–Venango Campus’ Honors Night celebration at the Quality Inn in Franklin on Friday, April 21, 2006. The annual event recognizes the achievement of students receiving scholarships and those who excel academically and in leadership positions. Outstanding Student Awards, Special Achievement Awards, and Dean’s List certificates were presented to the student honorees.

            Dr. Todd J. Pfannestiel, Associate Professor of History, delivered the keynote address and Dr. Joseph P. Grunenwald, President of Clarion University, offered remarks.

            “My colleagues and I are delighted to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our students this evening,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber, executive dean at Clarion University–Venango Campus, “and exceedingly grateful to the sponsors whose generosity has provided life-changing opportunities for students for whom a college education might not otherwise be attainable.”

            Scholarship sponsors for the spring awards included Louis D. Adelson; Representative Ronald E. Black; Clarion University–Venango Campus; Clarion University–Venango Campus Endowment; Jack A. Coogan; Galaxy Federal Credit Union; The Derrick Publishing Company; Dr. Julia Donovan Memorial Fund;  Dr. Thomas A.             Fourteen students were selected by their peers and Venango Campus faculty for the Outstanding Student Award. Accepting this honor were Laurie Ditz, Business Administration; Jay Poindexter, Criminal Justice; Esther Estes, Early Childhood Education; Chad Beach, Industrial Technology; Debby Rhoads, Legal Business Studies; Heather Almond, Arts and Sciences; Megan Albert, Elementary Education; Cheryl Scott, Nursing; Chelsi Confer, Radiologic Science; Kasey McClintock, Rehabilitative Sciences; Elisabeth Kingsley, Nursing; Terry Bliss, Rehabilitative Services;  Robin Bilan, Nursing; and Matthew Folwell, Contribution to Student Life.
