Latin Pop Artist to Appear at Clarion University–Venango Campus

OIL CITY-Singer-songwriter Javier Mendoza will appear in the Robert W. Rhoades Center at Clarion University-Venango Campus on Thursday, January 29, at 7 p.m., as part of the three-part Coffee House Series offered through the campus' Spring Spectacular cultural arts series.

Javier Mendoza has won numerous musical awards. In 2003 and 2004, the Riverfront Times in St. Louis, Missouri, gave his band the title of "Best Pop Band," and he also won St. Louis' KDHX Audience Award for Best Latin Artist in 2006. In addition, he was named Budweiser True Music Artist in 2005 and was a semifinalist at the Independent Music World Series Conference in 2003. Mendoza has performed at over 100 colleges in over 20 states.

Seven of Javier Mendoza's songs have been featured on MTV's Real World, and he has played with Willie Nelson and groups such as The Roots, Los Lobos, Ben Folds, G-Love, and The Smithereens. In 1999, Mendoza performed for Pope John Paul II.
