Venango Campus to Host Program Highlighting Radiologic Sciences Program

OIL CITY-Clarion University-Venango Campus will offer a program about its Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008, in the Robert W. Rhoades Center auditorium.

Prospective students and their families will have an opportunity to learn about the program and to meet with Professor Renee Bloom, chair of the Department of Allied Health and advisor to radiologic sciences majors and Debra Altman, clinical coordinator of the Radiologic Technology Program at UPMC Northwest, which serves as one of the university's clinical education partners in the program. Also available to provide student information will be Dr. David Lott, coordinator of the Venango Campus Honors Program; Emily Aubele, director of Student Affairs; LaTrobe Barnitz, coordinator of Admissions and Financial Aid; and representatives of Venango Campus Student Senate and clubs.

Radiologic technologists assist with the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease by performing medical imaging studies such as x-rays and other radiographic procedures. Qualified experienced radiographers are currently in very high demand. Job opportunities for radiologic technologists exist in hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, imaging centers, and with mobile imaging companies.

The field of radiologic technology affords exciting opportunities for career diversity in areas such as magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasonography, computed
tomography, mammography, administration, education, and medical sales.
