$203,805 in Nursing Scholarships Awarded at Clarion University-Venango Campus

OIL CITY-A total of $203,805 in scholarships was awarded to students in nursing programs at Clarion University-Venango Campus for the current academic year.

The programs included the Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) program, the RN- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, and the Master of Science in Nursing, a joint program of Clarion, Slippery Rock, and Edinboro Universities, with nurse educator and nurse practitioner tracks.

Sources for the awards were the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), the Edna B. McKenzie Scholarship, The Dr. Julia Donovan Memorial Scholarship, The Rosemary Coogan Endowed Scholarship, and the Dr. and Mrs. Arthur William Phillips Scholarship. More than 100 awards were made.

"These scholarships have significantly eased the burden of the costs of higher education for these students," said Dr. Kathleen T. Patterson, director of the School of Nursing and Allied Health at the campus. "We are grateful to the donors and very pleased to be able to award these scholarships to the students."

"These generous awards provide life-changing opportunities for our nursing students and help to meet the critical need for health care professionals in our region and beyond," said Dr. Christopher M. Reber, executive dean of the Venango Campus.
