Clarion University – Venango
Campus Announces Available Scholarships
Campus Expects to Award Nearly 70 Scholarships for the 2003-2004 Academic
Year
OIL CITY, PA – Clarion University of Pennsylvania
– Venango Campus has announced the availability of numerous scholarships
available for the fall 2003 semester to help potential students pay for their
college education. Scholarships are available for first-time students as well as
returning and adult students. Some scholarships are awarded based on academic
achievement while others are awarded based on financial need, field of study and
other criteria.
“With the support of the Clarion
University Foundation, Venango Campus was able to help approximately 70 students
pay tuition expenses last year,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber, executive dean
of the campus. “These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of
area clubs and businesses, university friends, and Clarion University faculty,
staff, and alumni.”
Venango Campus has streamlined the
application process so that individuals need to complete only one form to be
considered for all available scholarships. Scholarships generally range from
$500 to $1,000 per student.
“The application process was a lot easier than I
thought it would be,” said Kathleen Toth of Oil City, a freshman at Clarion
University – Venango Campus. Toth first heard about the scholarships through an
announcement at her high school last year and decided to submit an application.
“I was really excited when I received word that I had gotten a scholarship. It’s
been a tremendous help in paying for school.”
Applications can be obtained from the admissions
office at Clarion University – Venango Campus, 1801 West First Street, Oil City. Applications also have
been sent to guidance counselors at all area high schools. The deadline for
applications is February 14, 2003 and students will be notified of decisions by
March 28, 2003. Individuals who want additional information can call
814-676-6591 extension 1213 or visit www.clarion.edu/venango.
