University–Venango Campus Students
Join National Honor Society
OIL CITY, PA – Clarion University−Venango Campus
recently held its 19th annual Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremony. Phi
Theta Kappa is a national honor society for associate degree students that
recognizes and encourages scholarship among members. Inductees must have at
least a 3.4 grade point average.
The Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Clarion
University−Venango Campus provides opportunities for the development of
leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and
ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in
continuing academic excellence. The organization was founded in 1918 and was
recognized by the American Association of Junior Colleges in 1929.
Twenty two students were inducted during the
ceremony including: Anna Betke, Lisa Bussard, Carla Carter, David Dallas,
Heather Fox-Hovis, Ruby Fultz, Anthony Galla, Jennifer Gilbert, Cynthia Graham,
Mary Kush, Melissa Martz, Fred McNair, Katie O’Neil, Beth-Anne Owens, Anna
Platt, Shannon Schell, Julie Silvis, Patricia Stewart, Ladona Strouse, Patrick
Walsh, Deb Watson and Deborah Wilson.
New officers for the 2003-04 year were installed
at the ceremony. They are: Anna Betke, President; Anthony Galla,
Vice-President; Heather Fox-Hovis, Secretary; and Cynthia Graham, Treasurer.
Clarion University–Venango Campus provides

succeed. Students can earn an associate degree, a bachelor’s or master’s degree
in select areas, obtain a one-year certificate or participate in a variety of
professional development and personal enrichment courses. Clarion
