Clarion University–Venango Campus Partners with
Precision Manufacturing Institute
New Agreement Expands Clarion’s Technical
Program Concentrations to Sixteen
OIL CITY, PA –
Clarion University of Pennsylvania has signed a technical training agreement
with the Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI) of Meadville that will allow
students to obtain a Clarion University Associate of Applied Science in
Industrial Technology (AAS-IT) degree with concentrations in tool, die and mold
technology, quality control, machining and milling. Clarion’s Department of
Applied Technology will provide general education and management courses while
PMI will provide specialty technical training. Program graduates will receive an
associate degree from Clarion University that can help them advance to
leadership positions such as foreman and team leader.
“PMI is a recognized
leader in technical training and we’re pleased to partner with them to provide
students in the Department of Applied Technology program valuable career
options,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber, Executive Dean, Clarion
University–Venango Campus.
Individuals who have
previously earned a diploma from PMI will be awarded university credit for
relevant program training that could enable them to earn an associate degree
from Clarion University in as little as one year. Further, through Clarion’s
partnership with PMI and an existing collaboration between PMI and the Venango
Technology Center, students will have access to a technical training ladder that
allows them to make progress toward a Clarion University AAS-IT degree through
technical training completed at both these institutions.
“Collaborations
among educational institutions in our region are a vital link to meeting our
area’s workforce development needs,” said Jerry Knight, executive director of
PMI. “This new agreement with Clarion University is a significant step forward
in preparing men and women for leadership roles in industry.”
Individuals
